| Read Our Blog Read Our Blog Blog Farewell to our Fellows Beatrice Johnson March 12, 2015 Veterans Forward, Workforce 0 “Our Mission Continues fellows have been an unimaginable help to our group. BJ and Jon introduced their ardour, knowledge, and hard work to the Veterans Forward team. Thanks to their help, we were capable of serve extra veterans and to serve them higher. I would deliver a dozen Mission Continues fellows on board if I could. It’s an excellent program that helps veterans continue their service whereas supporting local nonprofits. I can’t say enough good things about this program.” â€" Chief Operating Officer, Bridget Altenburg. Wow. A reflection offers the phantasm of a lot to talk about and yet I don’t suppose I even have sufficient to say. Luckily for me, I kept notes all through the course of my fellowship, writing some reflections as I went alongside. For about the first ninety-days, I actually felt like I wasn’t making a difference throughout the veteran community or in support of the staff. I had a lot larger visions and expectations of myself; I realized it really wasn’t about me, however about being of service. As a staff of veterans, there were instances when the laughter was uncontrollable; the Esprit de Corps powerful. As fellows from The Mission Continues, we immediately engaged with quite a lot of activities to support individual veteran packages and workers. Some of the initiatives and actions included, but were not restricted to, collaborating in excessive-stage interagency conferences, coordinating conferences and events with external stakeholders, speaking with governmental agencies at native and state levels, researching coverage related matters, creating and managing collaborative instruments, updating contact database, planning internal instructional and navy cultural boards, drafting blogs for inner communications outlets, creating messaging on a wide range of topics, participation in special tasks, utilizing program administration software, he lping with developing expertise best practices, and administrating front line desk duties as wanted. The experience of a non-conventional fellowship project was a wonderful method for me to clearly decide my likes and dislikes, reveal my distinctive personality to folks, better perceive myself and my talents while building extra self-confidence. Our roles at National Able Network were not particularly defined, nevertheless it provided a basis to discover and domesticate paths for any veteran crossing the threshold. The abundance of resources fosters an setting open sufficient to allow veterans to really feel comfy in making a variety of selections as they outline where their abilities and pursuits intersect with the needs of the society. Thank you, Mrs. Grace Powers, Ms. Bridget Altenburg, and Mr. Bob Menard for the chance to be of service and God’s pace as The Mission Continues.
